Training

  • Training location: Fundación Polo Santa Maria
  • Hours of training per week: 12 h/week
  • Number of children per group: 10 - 12

Participants receive 12 or 15 hours of instruction per week in the Santa María Polo Club Equestrian Centre which is located just 5 minutes by car from the school and the boarding house. The younger students will be in a group of between 11 and 14 participants while the older students are in groups of 15-18. Sotogrande offers training for all abilities, from beginners to advanced. Instruction comprises care of the horses, trotting, cantering, galloping and jumps.

Participants will also be able to enjoy a number of trails in the natural landscape and on the beach. The horses belong to Santa María Polo Club, to which the riding instructors who supervise the participants are also attached. At beginners level, there is one instructor for every two students, whereas at the higher level, the ratio will be one instructor per group of up to 6 students.

Training Facilities

Students do their horse riding activities at the equestrian centre which is located only 5 minutes from both the residential campuses. The centre is equipped for a wide range of activities for all levels of horse riding ability, together with the horses, which the participants will look after and on which they will practise their riding skills. The facilities form a part of the Santa Maria club, but the students will also ride on trails in the surrounding area, one in the Alcornocales and another on the beach at Alcaidesa.

Language Classes

  • Levels: 6 Available levels
  • Children per group: 10 - 12
  • Native teachers: Yes

Students can take Spanish or English lessons, according to their nationality. At the Sotogrande school, teachers are native speakers of the language and there will be 15 hours of lessons per week for the Junior Camp students and 14 hours for Master Camp students. Classes are held in the afternoons except on Sundays and on days when excursions take place.

On arrival at the camp, participants take a level test so they can be placed in the appropriate class. There are a maximum of 10 students in the language classes and at the end of the course students are given a certificate to accredit the level they have reached. Sotogrande International School is a prestigious educational centre which delivers the ESO and Bacallaureate curriculum to boys and girls all year round.
